Dear
Journal,
My
name is Nicholas and today is my birthday.
I received you as a gift from my father who owns a merchant trading shop
in the city of Florence where we live. I
am 15 years old and my parents are able to afford to send me to school. I study Latin, the classics of Ancient Rome
and math, I find Latin difficult to learn but I really like math. When I am older, I plan on going to
university to continue my studies. I have
two brothers who are 7 and 5, they have started school also.
Tonight
for my birthday we are having soup, roasted chicken and vegetables. It is my favorite meal! My mama does not work so she has been home
all day cooking and the house that we live in is filled with the smell of
roasted chicken and soup. I just peaked
out in the kitchen, which is down the hall from my room, and she has started
making our dessert for this evening, gingerbread; my favorite!
I
cannot wait until the weeks end. The
carnival will be in town and my family will be attending. The carnival will
bring music and dancing and jugglers, so many beautiful colors and sounds! I don’t know if I like the jousting
competitions or the horse races more but I can barely sleep tonight I am so
excited for it to come.
That
is all for now journal, mama is calling me for dinner.
